Rangdajied holds fort, Langsning loss 1-0

BANGALORE, MAR 30: The Shillong boys had a mixed luck on Saturday at the second division of the I-League final rounds legs as one of the city based football club Rangdajied United football club hold its rival Kolkata’s Southern Samity to a 1-1 draw, while in the second match Langsning went down to Mumbai Tigers by a solitary goal in the matches played at Bangalore football stadium on Saturday.

In the first match between Rangdajied United Football Club and Kolkata’s Southern Samity, the Shillong boys did well to hold the team from Kolkata, who is adapt to the Bangalore weather, despite playing in a hostile and humid weather in the south Indian city.

,It was Rangdajied who took the lead on the thirtieth minute of the game when Baba Tunde Ayomide headed home a well measured cross from skipper Rustom Khyriem, bringing jubilation to the boys from Shillong.

However, the joy in the Shillong camp was short lived as Kolkata Southern Samity fought back and in the fiftieth minutes of the game Suroj Mondal push home a deflected ball from Rangdajied custodian Surjay K. Pariyar leveling the score.

As the match went into extra time, Shillong boys displayed a brilliant defense making it impossible for the Kolkata side to score any more goals.

With this draw both the teams have earned one point each.

However in the second match of the second division I-League  another Shillong based football club Langsning lost the match against Mumbai Tigers by a solitary goal.

Despite dominating the game from the start, Langsning failed to score as luck seems not to be on their side on the first match.

In the 24th minute of the game Daniel Bidemu Ayeni shot from zero angles but unfortunately the referee declared it off side.

As the game went into injury time of the first half, referee Ajit Metei awarded a spot kick in favorer of the Mumbai Tigers after he caught L Devit Meetei bringing down Demba Dikhate inside the box. Taking the shot Mohammed Rafi M made no mistake as Shillong custodian Laisharm Prem Kumar Singh failed to defend the ball which found the net. It was a match winner for the Mumbai’s side.

But overall, Mumbai Tigers was no match against Langsning , despite having former Indian soccer  star Pardeep NP who failed to score a goal for his team.
