Red Cross gets Rs 2 lakhs

SHILLONG, JULY 20: The trustees of late Purabi Deka Memorial Charitable Trust, Lt. Col. Anjan Datta (retd) and Rukmini Datta have donated to the Indian Red Cross Society, Meghalaya branch, Rs. 2,00,000/- towards disaster relief. The trust has been primarily set up to give scholarships for meritorious students from needy families for pursuing higher studies and other deserving charitable organizations.

Lt. Col. Anjan Datta took premature retirement from the artillery corp of the Indian Army in 1986. Rukmini Datta is a retired teacher from the army school and is now running a school at their residence in Laban called Tender Care.- By Our Reporter
