Renovation of Govt LP schools to be completed soon: Rakkam

SHILLONG, AUG 8: Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma on Tuesday informed that renovation of majority of the government lower primary schools will be completed by the next six-seven months.

 

Sangma told reporters that the chief minister had decided to renovate dilapidated schools across the state.

 

“The government wanted to completely change the entire education scenario in the state. In fact, the government is working hard to make Meghalaya as one of the states having the best education system in the country,” he said.

 

According to official sources, there are over 1,000 such schools which are undergoing renovation in the state.

 

On his visit to East Jaintia Hills District, Sangma informed that he had reviewed the education scenario in the district and held a consultative meeting with all the primary teachers.

 

He said the meeting was very fruitful and very informative. “I was informed about the challenges faced by the teachers and was also given some kind of suggestions.”

 

When asked, Sangma said that the deputy commissioner of the district is doing his best to uplift the education scenario in the district adding that DC had gone ahead sanctioned funds for introduction of a mission called the ‘Ka Lawei’ which is related to digital learning.

 

“East Jaintia Hills will be the first district to launch this program at district level. There is some good initiative and with the support from the teachers and parents, students are really excited offsets and learning in the classroom,” he said.

 

He informed that around 15 schools have been given smart TV, digital contents for implementing digital learning to improve their academic performances.
