Review Meeting on MDR and CDR Addresses Crucial Health Initiatives held in SWGH

In a significant gathering at the DRDA Conference Hall, Ampati, on Thursday, stakeholders convened to discuss critical health matters, with a focus on Maternal Death Review (MDR) and Child Death Review (CDR). The session included a comprehensive exploration of pulse polio immunization (IPPI) led by Dr. Noreen Sangma.

The MCH in-charge and facilities presented insightful reviews on maternal and child deaths, shedding light on crucial aspects of healthcare in the region. Furthermore, the meeting delved into discussions on Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) programs such as Infant Protection Act (IPA) and Pradhan Mantri Aarogya Bharat Yojana (PMABHIM).

Chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo Hills, RP Marak, the event witnessed the active participation of Medical and Health Officers, as well as Block Development Officers (BDOs) from Zikzak and Betasing. Notable attendees included D Hajong and CRN Sangma, the District School Education Officer in charge, T Marak, Child Development Project Officer, TK Marak, and District Social Welfare Officer, ZR Marak.

Dr. Sengseng R Sangma, a prominent Child Specialist from DEIC, Tura, emphasized the need for patient-friendly hospitals, advocating for the right dosage of medicines, even in resource-constrained environments. Dr. Sangma highlighted the potential to address certain illnesses and reduce mortality rates with strategic interventions.

“Despite working with limited resources, we can enhance our efforts to improve compliance and provide additional counseling to patients and mothers,” stated Dr. Sangma, underlining the collaborative commitment needed for sustainable healthcare improvements.

The meeting concluded with a shared vision among participants to implement practical measures, ensuring the well-being of the community, and addressing health challenges head-on.
