Richard files nomination as Ind candidate

SHILLONG, FEB 1: 27-year-old Richard Nongbsap, a daily wage earner on Wednesday filed his nomination as an independent candidate for contesting the upcoming elections from Mylliem constituency.

Nongbsap told reporters that he had decided to contest the election as he wanted to fight against corruption.

“That is why I have chosen a CCTV camera as my symbol because I want to ensure transparency,” he said.

Nongbsap said that he would also bring new rules which will be written in Khasi and Garo languages to ensure transparency in the District Transport Office (DTO). He said that he wanted to protect the weaker section of the society. According to him, the Mylliem constituency is still lacking behind in so many aspects.

When asked, Nongbsap said that he cannot say whether he will or not as it will depend on the decision of the people. “I am a poor man and I expect poor people will support me,” he said.
