SHILLONG, JAN 29: Ri Bhoi district magistrate has promulgated Section 144 CrPC prohibiting assemble of five or more persons at the premises and entrance of the DCs office in Nongpoh on Thursday. The order also forbids carrying of any weapons or other articles like sticks, stones etc which may endanger the public and cause damage to property etc and disruption of normal life and obstruction to the free movement of people, vehicles by any person or group of persons.
This order was issued in view of sit-in demonstration at the entrance of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi District called by the Khasi Student Union, North Khasi Hills on the January 30 from 9 am to 4 pm.
The order came into force with immediate effect and will continue to remain so until further orders.- By Our Reporter
