Seminar on Media

SHILLONG, JUNE 8; Several journalists from the eight north-eastern states and outside the region have converged in Shillong to take part in a two-day ‘Regional Seminar-cum-Workshop’ organized by the South Asia Media Solidarity Network (SAMSN), a division of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) from Sunday..

Meghalaya labour minister Ampareen Lyngdoh will inaugurate the seminar at the Shillong Club at 3 pm on Sunday, while Meghalaya information and public relations minister AL Hek will deliver the valedictory address on Monday.

Journalists will take up discussion on several issues confronting them, including economic exploitation and the challenges of working in a conflict zone besides media ethics and the importance of people’s right to information for strengthening democracy.

The seminar, the first of its kind to be held in Meghalaya, is being organized in collaboration with the Indian Journalists Union (IJU) and facilitated by the Shillong Press Club with support of the Meghalaya Government.-By Our Reporter
