Sherwood tops SSLC exams, Adventist school in HSSLC

SHILLONG, MAY 26: Sherwood School, Tura in West Garo Hills bagged the top position in the the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination while Adventist Higher Secondary School, Thadlaskein in West Jaintia Hills topped in the Higher Secondary Leaving Certificate (Arts).

 

The results for both the examinations were announced by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) here on Friday.

 

Samridhya Das of Sherwood School, Tura became the topper of this year’s SSLC examination by scoring 572 marks.

 

The second position went to Jyotipriya Bhattacharjee of St Margaret’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong (570 marks) while Tanushri Acharjee, also of St Margaret’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong, Ritam Deep Chowdhury of Sherwood School, Tura and Salrime M Sangma of St Xavier’s Secondary School shared the third position as they managed to score the same marks at 564.

 

Other schools from across the state also featured in this year’s SSLC top-twenty merit list.

 

Larisa Lamin of Adventist Higher Secondary School, Thadlaskein also topped in the HSSLC examination when she scored 450 marks while Avelyne Francisca Khriam and Deinamesha Hynniewta of St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong were placed in the second and third position by scoring 449 and 446 marks respectively.

 

Meanwhile, the state recorded a pass percentage of 51.93 per cent in the SSLC examination when compared to last year at 56.96 per cent.

 

On the other hand, the overall pass percentage in the HSSLC examination was registered at 80.30 per cent. Last year, the pass percentage was at 81.17 per cent.

 

A total 26,629 of 51,280 students from 656 schools cleared the SSLC examination held in 157 centres, while 20,425 of 25,434  students from 246 schools who gave the HSSLC exams held in 105 centres were declared successful by the Board.

 

East Khasi Hills District scored the highest pass percentage at 73.87 percent while South West Garo Hills registered the lowest at 26.73 percent in the SSLC examination.

 

In the HSSLC examination, Eastern West Khasi Hills District recorded the highest pass percentage at 91.64 percent while South Garo Hills is the lowest with only 49.23 percent.
