SHILLONG, APR 07: In the thrilling first match played under the floodlight at the JN stadium, the game between the home team Shillong Lajong and the ONGC ended in a draw with both the teams scoring one goal each. Both the teams split points in the ongoing I-League.

The capacity crowd, who were rooting for the home team, was treated to some delightful display of skills as the men in reds dominated the first half of the game and kept on attacking the opposition goal post and teasing the ONGC defence.

The stadium went into rapture, when the Shillong Lajong scored the goal in the sixteen minutes of the game as Sushil Kumar Singh beat the ONGC goal keeper to drive home a simple goal.

Desperate for a goal, the ONGC soon found a chance and leveled the score when David Lalrinmuana converted it into a goal as his shot found the back of the Shillong Lajong net.

With both the team looking to take a lead, the spectators were treated to a scintillating football. The Shillong Lajong as well as the ONGC had their share of chances of taking a lead, both the team failed to convert those half chances into goal.

On one occasion the ONGC looked all set to take a lead but for the Shillong Lajong goalie  brilliant save of a Yusa Katsumi shot. Had the Shillong Lajong goalie flattered then the result would have been different.

The man of the match was awarded to Robin Gurung of ONGC.
