Shut down of shops

SHILLONG, AUG 20: East Khasi Hills district magistrate, Matsiewdor War Nongbri has ordered closure of all shops and business establishments in Laitumkhrah from police point till Mohanson’s dry cleaner following violation against the prohibitory order of the government.

 The order said that all norms of social distancing, hand hygiene and wearing of masks are being flouted in areas of Laitumkhrah from Police Point till Mohanson’s dry cleaner which is in total violation of the prohibitory order issued on August 15.

It said in order to control the spread of the pandemic in the interest and health safety of the general public, all shops and business establishments have been asked to remain closed until further orders.

The order stated that no person, public are allowed to operate any form of business in the specified areas as mentioned above.

Gatherings, events, functions whatsoever of any nature and forms including social, political, religious, economic activities are not allowed.

All shopping establishments of whatsoever nature shall be closed immediately.

All Government and private institutions located within the boundaries of the specified areas are to close forthwith, till further orders.

According to the order, the Incident Commander, Zone-I, will be the Supervising Officer of the specified area in Laitumkhrah from Police Point till Mohanson’s Dry Cleaner.

The order, however, will not apply to health workers and essential workers of Shillong Municipal Board, press including electronic and print media, pharmacies, LPG delivery workforce and Banks.

The order also stated that any violation of the order will entail prosecution under the penal provision of Disaster Management Act, 2005 and IPC.
