SHILLONG, JUNE 23: Nongkrem MDC Hispreaching Son Shylla has decided to quit from the United Democratic Party (UDP) to join the People Democratic Front (PDF) from which he proposed to contest in the upcoming 2018 state elections.

The decision was taken after a meeting of the Sub-Committee constituted by Shylla to conduct a signature campaign in Nongkrem, held here on Friday.

“I have decided to obey the decision of the sub-committee to quit from the UDP,” Shylla said in a letter to the UDP general secretary Jemino Mawthoh.

During the meeting, the committee headed by Hilarius Warbah submitted its report which stated that majority of the people from different villages expressed their desire for Shylla to contest the MLA election from the PDF, a new party.

“The sub-committee has decided that Shylla should immediately resign from the UDP so that he can extent his support to the ruling PDF (Forum) in KHADC and to join the PDF (Front),” said Warbah in the report, which was submitted to Mawthoh.

The sub-committee has also resolved to strengthen the People Democratic Front as part of preparing for the forthcoming MLA election.

It has also lauded Shylla for showing humbleness and trust on his supporters by accepting the decision.
