TURA, NOV 11:  Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) commander-in-chief  Sohan D. Shira denied issuing death threats to judicial and police officers in the Garo hills on facebook but said that he has only issued a bounty of Rs  lakhs for information on police movement.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Shira said,  “I have promulgated Rs 15 lakh for any person who could provide information to us on police personnel,” adding that it would only be a ‘coincidence’ if any SPs, ASPs or DSPs fell in their line of fire

Shira issued the statement in response to Meghalaya police’s move to register a case against him over a post in a facebook by an account holder who had posted a bounty of Rs 20 lakh for targeting judicial and other government officials in Garo hills.

Shira made it clear that he had not issue the threat by saying,“I have not issued a death threat against judicial officials or police officers of ranks in Garo hills. The person who posted the threat on Facebook and offered Rs 20 lakh as a cash reward for assassination of district judicial officials, police personnel is not a GNLA member.”
