I think this the first time that the Meghalaya Police has taken some steps to stop such indecent behaviors of the students. This is not the first time that such things have happened but many times I’ve seen. School boys and girls, college students. It is such a shame for us to see such behaviors..it would leave a bad impression on the People coming from other parts of the country and the world who come and visit our city. Not only Wards Lake but many other places too. We just need informers who would place a complaint on seeing such deeds. It would be a great help, for the police and the discipline of the State itself!

Why to mention whether school boys or girls is it necessary.. If they can handle other insurgents like they did to these kids that’s much better.. Yes these kids also needs a punishment but it should only end up in wards lake only

Moral policing. Why arrest everyone? Only the trouble makers shpuld be arrested. Unless you catch them while they were drinking you can’t arrest them. Even then you’d have to medically prove they are intoxicated . Alcohol does not stay for a long time in the body and the Meghalaya police do not have breath analyzers this no one will be chargesheeted. At the end of the day the police will not be able to charge them with anything except for a few trouble makers with witnesses. The others will go to jail for no reason. Just an attempt to humuliate the younger people because their childhood’s were unpleasant. Go chase the militants instead of harassing harmless drunks Meghalaya Police

While I understand the need to curb underage drinking, I don’t understand the necessity of having to specify that of the forty five or so teenagers that were picked up the police five were female. Is there some special requirement that facilitates the need to mention this little caveat? Why not go further and say that forty were teenage boys? Does that not make more sense when describing this group of teenagers?

A thing of this kind should definitely be condemned but this piece has scarred me. Didn’t anyone proof read this before publishing? EDITOR?

Also, you lost me with the “INCLUDING FIVE WOMEN” addition.

Oh Meghalaya, this is from one journo to another.
Let’s be more sensitive from our next article and yes, of course, grammatically correct too!!

Don’t blame them but blame their parents for not having time with their children these days… A proper guidance and a word God are missing in every society and community. So before we look at others think first how much have we contributed to the society and their love’s one…
