HNLC threat:Police serious

SHILLONG, NOV 15: A after the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) issued threat against the Meghalaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA) and Meghalaya urban affairs minister Ampareen Lyngdoh not to continue its eviction at Umsawli or face consequences, the Meghalaya police said it is taking the threat seriously and monitoring the situation on a daily basis.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, East Khasi hills SP Vivek Syiem said, “The police is assessing the situation in the city on a daily basis to ensure that no untoward incident takes place.”   Syiem, however, said similar threats have been given even in the past and police takes all such threats seriously to ensure that militants do not succeed in any of their plans. He assured that police will take all steps necessary  for ensuring security in the city. – By Our Reporter
