Teachers’ asso clarifies

SHILLONG, MAY 18: Federation of All Meghalaya Adhoc School Teachers Association (FAMASTA) general secretary M Pyrtuh on Wednesday said the association has no ill intention to disrupt the functioning of the other adhoc associations. “The FAMASTA wants to strengthen its association but has no ill intention to fight or disrupt the functions’ of the primary, upper primary or higher secondary school adhoc association,” Pyrtuh said in a statement.

Her reaction came in the wake of the statement made by the different adhoc associations alleging that the FAMASTA was not authorized to make any demand on their behalf except for the JACATAM.

They have rejected the demand of the FAMASTA for enhancement of salary, which will be discussed at a meeting called by the Chief Minister on June 1, since they want provincialization of services, which the JACATAM has been demanding for past two years.

However, Pyrtuh said that the FAMASTA has move ahead with its problems and demands after the JACATAM chairman ED Nongsiang had clarified that there is no bar for the association to approach the government, in a meeting held recently.

Earlier, the adhoc associations which met yesterday had alleged that move was made by only some members of the FAMASTA.

On this, Pyrtuh said that the word ”some’ ‘as stated by the JACATAM is condemnable as she claimed that the executive committee of the FAMASTA and the association as a whole is still under the leadership of B Kharumnuid the president and M Pyrtuh the general secretary and is still strong and united.-By Our Reporter
