SHILLONG, JUNE 3: A section assistant officer of the Public Work Department (PWD) was arrested for sending threatening messages to the state transport minister HDR Lyngdoh.
Sophior Lyngdoh Nongrang (45), a section assistant in the office of the PWD at Mawphlang was arrested for issuing threatening messages to the minister, East Khasi Hills SP M Kharkrang said.
Nongrang had sent the message to Lyngdoh on May 24.
However before the police could interrogate Nongrang he was sent for medical checkup and later had to be admitted in a city hospital.
Kharkrang said the threatening messages were related to some transfer order issued by the government.
A case has been registered after the minister had lodged an FIR with the police, Kharkhrang said. The police are still investigating into the case.- By Our Reporter
