Tura water supply on track

SHILLONG, MAR 11: The augmentation of Tura Phase I and II Water Supply Scheme at a cost of Rs 25 crore is going on, deputy chief minister in-charge PHE RC Laloo told the assembly on Thursday.

Informing that the total cost of the project stands at Rs 50 crore, Laloo said so far the union government have released first and second installment of Rs 12.50 crore each totaling Rs 25 crore for the project and it has been utilized.

To a supplementary question raised by Independent legislator John Leslee Sangma that the project came to a standstill due to objection against the tapping of water from the source, Laloo admitted that for some time the project came to a standstill but work started again after the matter was resolved.

To another query by the Independent legislator Saleng A Sangma as to when the government expect to get the remaining fund for completion of the project, Laloo informed that the state government has submitted the utilization certificate but  cannot say when it be released but one thing for sure that state government will get the funds.-By Our Reporter
