SHILLONG, FEB 11: The two days State Level Adventure Training Camp 2014 held at the  Upper Lumparing community hall concluded on February 7 with the Upper Lumparing  Rangbah Shnong KS Sawian gracing the function as the chief guest at Mynsain

The camp was organized by the Meghalaya Rock Climbing and Mountaineering Association (MeRCMA) Shillong, under the aegis of state directorate of sports and youth Affairs. The camp was inaugurated on February 6 by ER Khongsngi, President of Arcadian Nature-Sports Guild (ANG), who is also the principal of Shechem English School, Shangpung.

The two-day long training camp was organised to inculcate the spirit of adventure, discipline and fraternity among the youths. A total of 20 youths including 5 girls from around the state were trained by instructors from MeRCMA in various adventure sports like rock climbing, rappelling, flying fox, jummaring, basic leadership programme, rope knots and a four-hour day trekking.

In his speech during the conclusion of the camp, Sawian appreciated the hard work put in by the members of MeRCMA in promoting adventure sports and casualty rescue training related to disaster management. He encouraged the participants and reminded all the members that they would encounter many difficulties in their struggles but urged them not to falter and to carry on with their work.– By Our Reporter
