Tynsong offers “skill training” to AITC national general secretary

SHILLONG, JUNE 30: National People’s Party (NPP) national vice president and deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong on Thursday hit back at the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee for his “childish” and “immature” statement and offered to give him training on public speaking.

“He (Abhishek) needs further training on how to go forward serving the people of India. For this training, he needs to come again to Shillong so that we (NPP) will provide skill training to him so that he will understand how to use his languages wherever he goes throughout India,” Tynsong told reporters.

This came a day after Abhishek Banerjee, who during his maiden visit to the state, had personally attacked the chief minister Conrad K Sangma by calling him a “conman” while accusing the NPP-led MDA government of being a puppet of the BJP.

Stating that the AITC national general secretary is still very immature in politics, Tynsong said, “He is too immature because of a few reasons, one is just making allegations without any substantial evidence I think that is childish. And being the tallest leader of the TMC in India you are here in Meghalaya not even 24 hours, you pretend as if you know everything and where is that proximity of NPP and BJP.”

“I get confused I don’t know as NPP-led MDA government, we started serving the people of the state right from 2018 till this moment, people of Meghalaya has seen it how the MDA government under the leadership of Conrad K Sangma, we perform, so that’s why I said let me again reiterate that the statement made by Abhishek Banerjee is childish and unfortunate at his stature,” he added.

The deputy chief minister also lashes back at the AITC leader when he alleged that the boundary agreement to resolve the six areas of difference was signed with Assam to “please the masters in Delhi”.

“He does not know anything about the boundary issues of Meghalaya and Assam. He joined politics yesterday and this problem had already started 50 years back. I don’t want to clarify anything. I don’t want to waste my time and I think we are born and brought up here in Meghalaya, we understand and we know better than anybody else,” he said.

He also requested the people of the state to judge and assess a person of the stature of the AITC national general secretary for his childish statements.

Tynsong further said Abhishek needs to know the real issues in Meghalaya.

“Please don’t talk about issues which are outside Meghalaya. When we signed the MoU between Meghalaya and Assam, you knew well we have spent so much time and we have sat not less than 11-12 times. Both the state governments have done a detailed study and homework leading ultimately to the signing of the MoU. Therefore, the statement of Abhishek Banerjee is totally childish and totally wrong,” he said.

Taking a jibe at the AITC leader for his failure to ensure all his 12 MLAs are intact during his maiden visit to the state, Tynsong said, “Had it been me in his place before coming to Shillong, I would like to make sure all the 12 MLAs of my party are intact, are together in the meeting. I was surprised…of 12, only 8 of them attended the meeting. It seems that he has not done his homework well.”

Meanwhile, Tynsong said that the NPP is the real fighter against the virus and that AITC is nothing.

“They claimed that the NPP is the virus and TMC is the vaccine. I have not seen their senior leaders contributing in fighting the virus, then why talk about vaccines. I have not seen them participate in the fight against the virus,” he stated.
