“When they (UDP and HSPDP) are part of the MDA how is it that in the KHADC they will work with the Congress,” PDF leader Pynshngain N Syiem told reporters after a party meeting held here on Wednesday.

The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) is being led by the ruling People Democratic Forum (PDF) which comprises mainly of members belonging to the newly floated PDF party besides NPP, BJP and Independent.

It may be mentioned the MDCs of the UDP, HSPDP and Congress are totally against the chief executive member over the implementation of the centre’s special assistance grant.

They have alleged that the CEM of abusing his power by allotting the work orders for implementation of schemes under the special assistance grant to PDF candidates for the just concluded Assembly polls.

Whether there is a possibility of changing the name of the ruling coalition in the district council, Syiem said, “Yes, we can do that but only after the matter is being discussed with all the partners.”

“We have market the name of PDF enough and we have also won four seats in the just concluded elections,” he said.

Out of four, two PDF MLAs – Banteidor Lyngdoh and Hamletson Dohling have been inducted as ministers in the National People’s Party (NPP)-led MDA government in the state.

Stating that the PDF is a fast growing party, the PDF leader said that the party is also gearing up for the preparation of the upcoming Lok Sabha and district council elections to be held next year.

Asked whether the party is going to field candidate for the MP elections, Syiem however said that it is too early to say now. “We may set up our own candidate or we may go with the MDA candidate this is still subjected to discussion,” he said.
