SHILLONG, MAY 25: In a revelation that might give sleepless night to the Meghalaya government and the security forces in Garo hills, the ANVC(B) women cadre leader has sounded a warning saying that the women wing of this militant group will now protect women in Garo hills from those who rapes and indulge in violence against women in this region of the state.
In a press communiqué issued to the press on Saturday, the ANVC (B) women wing leader Silan Ginchi Marak said, “We are ready to protect the women of Garo Hills.”She said there have been increasing crimes against women in the state and Garo hills in particular and women need to be protected and taught to fight for their rights.
Marak warned, “We will take action against people who rapes women because without woman Meghalaya is not Meghalaya.” She said Garo women have joined the ANVC(B) to save as many women from being raped.
Marak also sought to make it amply clear that the ANVC (B ) is safe for woman and that they are trained to defend themselves from criminals . She said, “We were weak but not anymore.”
Marak also informed that though they are trained but are not allowed to kill people but help Garo woman to be free from fear. She said, “Our leaders are our father. They will protect us from all danger.” – By Our Reporter
