Workshop on bakery held

SHILLONG, NOV 30: The five Day Intensive Workshop on Cooking and Bakery classes and demonstration of practical, do and learn activities imparted by different renowned resource persons of the region concluded today by highlighting the schemes available from the concerned government departments.

It may be mentioned that, the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India in collaboration with Arts and Culture, Government of Meghalaya has organized this 5 Day Workshop on Cooking and Baking classes under Women Activities for womenfolk in the region at Aminda Rangsa under Gambegre C & RD Block in West Garo Hills district. The workshop was held from 26th to 30th November, 2018.

The Resource person from District Commerce and Industries Centre, West Garo Hills, Tura C B Marak informed the participants about the different schemes and training programmes being provided by the government in order to provide basic infrastructure facilities for the creation of industrial awareness and atmosphere. While mentioning about few of the successful entrepreneurs of the region including Webstar D Shira, Dexter R Marak, etc she also highlighted the necessary requirement and skills to be an entrepreneur which can be achieved with hard work and dedication.

The participants were trained to bake various types of cakes including icing decorating or frosting, bread-making and different types of pastries, etc. In cooking they were trained to prepare meat balls, noodles, soup, etc which would help them to prepare and serve the guest as Aminda Rangsa being tagged for the beautiful wood carving, sculpting as well as Cleanest village in the region is always frequented by guests and visitors from other states and beyond.

While interacting, the participants stated their willingness to start their own business enterprise in their capacity and also by availing assistance from the government for a bigger purpose.

Assistant Curator, District Museum, Tura Kimde Marak, people of the area and participants were amongst others attended the programme.
