X’mas message with music, food and humour

SHILLONG, DEC 12: ‘Christmas ha I lyngwiar dpei’ promises to ring in the yuletide spirit with loads of music, food, and a dash of humour, come December 14. The flavor: mostly local; venue: NEHU’s Bijni Complex at Laitmumkhrah.

This 90 minute-long event will celebrate the season of joy with cultural fanfare. Staged by the city’s very own TransFusion band, SummerSalt, the show will feature original tracks in Khasi as well as in English. Another city band, Fourth Element, will add spice to the concert with their funk, jazz, R&B and soul numbers. A host of young songwriters and poets, including Timmy Kharhujon, Benedict Hynniewta, Ronnie Khonglam and Ken Warjri, will showcase their talents to keep the audience engaged.

The spirit of the event will be captured in painting by artist Careen Langstieh whose art-in-progress will be aired live in the big screen at the venue. The underlining theme of the event will be the Christmas message of peace, joy and hope. The available Khasi cuisine will, the organizers hope, be the icing on the cake.- By Our Reporter
