YesEarth Youth Corps organizes cleaning of Umshyrpi river

In a remarkable demonstration of community spirit and environmental responsibility, YesEarth Youth Corps celebrates the successful completion of a comprehensive river cleaning drive on Umshyrpi river, Shillong on Saturday. This initiative, organized by YesEarth Youth Corps, in association with Rotary Club Shillong Heritage, National Cadet Corps (NCC), Rotary District 3240 and Shillong Municipal Board, has yielded transformative results in revitalizing our beloved Umshyrpi river.

RM Kurbah, Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills flagged off the cleaning drive.

More than 100 NCC cadets, Rotary Club members, Shillong Municipal Board officials and staff and people from the locality, participated in the event.

RM Kurba, Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills expressed gratitude for the collective effort, stating, “This river cleaning drive exemplifies the power of community collaboration. Our city’s commitment to preserving our natural resources remains unwavering. The successful results of this initiative not only benefit us today but also ensure a cleaner, healthier environment for future generations. She laid stress, that each person who has got aware, should make aware at least one other person.”

Abhijit Sharma, YesEarth Youth Corps, Mission Director, added, “We are immensely proud of what we’ve achieved together. This river cleaning drive demonstrates that when we come together as a community, we can make a profound difference in safeguarding our environment. We look forward to building on this success and continuing our mission to protect our rivers and natural treasures. As we reflect on the success of this river cleaning drive, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who contributed their time, resources, and dedication to this vital cause. Together, we have made a lasting impact on the health and beauty of our river, setting a powerful example for communities everywhere.”

Hemen Kalita, Vice President and Jasbir Singh, Secretary, Rotary Club Shillong Heritage reiterated that “Rotary Club of Shillong Heritage is committed to support all causes that make a positive impact on our community at large.”

As future leaders of Young & aspirational India ,the NCC cadets were exhorted by  Col Amitosh Chauhan, the Commanding Officer to come forward & actively contribute in this Swatch Bharat activity & to ensure ‘Swatchta’ becomes a part of daily life. 100 Cadets of NCC Gp HQ Shillong  (61 Meghalaya Girls Bn & 2 Meghalaya Bn NCC)  actively participated in the river cleaning drive on river Umshyrpi.
