Youth are state’s biggest asset: CM

DSC_9100SHILLONG, SEPT 13: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today attended the closing ceremony of the year long Diamond Jubilee Celebration of Auxilium Girls ‘ Higher Secondary School, Nongthymmai, Shillong.
The Programme was also attended by Lahkmen Rymbui, Minister for Education, C Pyngrope, local MLA,  PS Dkhar, Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills, Sr Isabella Suja, Mother Provincial of Shillong Province, Nongthymmai, Shillong, teachers, students among others.Speaking on the occasion, Sangma said that education is the catalyst of change and the government is giving importance to education to ensure that quality education is imparted to the students in the state.

He also said that educated youth is the biggest asset of the state and the country and the teachers need to guides them and channelize their energy in the right direction.

Stating that education is not just about school, the Chief Minister said that education is a complete eco system, adding that, “we are not here simply to educate the children but we are here to shape and mould students, we are here to take forward, we are here to change lives of our young children and it is about getting responsible citizens for our country”.

Sangma also lauded the past and the present principal and teaching faculties for their selfless dedication to give the best education to the students of the school.

Earlier, the School Management System was inaugurated by C Pyngrope, local MLA.

The School Management System was developed to store the data of the school with an aim for better information management.

Other highlights of the day include release of Diamond Jubilee Souvenir of the School by the Chief Minister, song and dances presented by the students of the school.

Sr. Joplin Suchiang, Principal, Auxilium Girls’ Higher Secondary School delivered the welcome address while Sr. Theresa Phawa, Vice Principal proposed the vote of thanks.
