SHILLONG, DEC 6: Sixteen Hynniewtrep A’chik National Movement (HANM) members tendered their resignations from the primary membership of the organization on Friday saying that the reason for their resignation is because of the ‘dictatorship-attitude’ of the incumbent president. “We have tendered our resignations from the organization with immediate effect,” HANM central body members told a news conference on Friday.
Those who resigned includes the general secretary – Alban K Gashnga, organizing secretaries – Ency Shadap and Sen Thabah, information and publicity secretary – Gilbert G Kharraswai, sports secretary – Albert Marwein, disciplinary secretary – Rejoice Nongsiej, finance secretary – Goldenstar Khongwar, office secretary – Robin Kharkongor.
The other eight members who resigned are activists from the different district and circle of the organization.
Claiming that they have nothing against organization, general secretary AK Gashnga said, the main reason that led them to take up the decision is because of the dictatorial attitude of the president Lamphang Kharbani.
Gashnga also claimed that most of the members have lost confidence on the leadership of Kharbani.
The HANM has around 9000 members spread across the different parts of Khasi-Jaintia hills region. The members also informed that more members would soon tender their resignations soon.- By Our Reporter
