22-hour bandh in JH

JOWAI, JULY 26: The Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) decided to call for a twenty-two hours ‘bandh’ starting from August 1 to August 2 in West Jaintia hills district. The decision was taken on Friday during the JSU meeting to protest against the nonchalant attitude of the state government towards the union demand for improving the health scenario in the district.

JSU general secretary Emperor Bareh said in a statement issued on Friday, “The bandh will start from 8 pm of August 1.”

The JSU has been demanding for immediate up-gradation of the Jowai Civil Hospital, setting up of blood bank and making the Ialong Civil hospital functional.

Earlier last month, the JSU had also called three days night road blockade on the same issues. – By Our Reporter
