SHILLONG, JULY 26: The Mawryngkang village Rangbah Shnong Kerini Khongit, Assistant Rangbah Shnong Thwer Tynsong and secretary of the village Jwatbod Khongmalai were arrested on Friday by the East Khasi hills police for forcing Noping Khongsit to eat human excreta after his family was accused of practicing witchcraft.
East Khasi Hills SP M Kharkrang informed that the trios were arrested after they surrendered before him early Friday morning.
Kharkrang told reporters that a police team led by SDPO Sohra and additional district magistrate had visited the village to search for them but they managed to evade arrest.
All the three accused have been forwarded to court. The police swung into action after the district administration had lodged an FIR against the three for forcing the victim to eat human excreta.- By Our Reporter
