UDP Sohiong proposes HDR Lyngdoh’s nephew as candidate

SHILLONG, MAR 1: The Sohiong Circle of the United Democratic Party (UDP) has recommended the name of Synshar Lyngdoh, who is the nephew of former home minister late HDR Lyngdoh, to be the official candidate of the party from Sohiong constituency.

The election in Sohïong was adjourned due to the demise of his uncle and UDP candidate on February 20.

 

“I have received a letter from the Sohiong Circle yesterday. They have proposed the name of Synshar Lyngdoh, who is the nephew of HDR Lyngdoh, to contest the upcoming election in the constituency,” President of the UDP East Khasi Hills District and KHADC chief Titosstarwell Chyne told reporters on Wednesday.

 

When asked, Chyne said, “I will have to take up this proposal with the state election committee for its approval.”

 

Sohiong has 63 polling stations. Voting in the constituency will be announced by the Election Commission later.
