blogTURA, JULY 2:  West Garo hills police rescued the kidnapped primary school teacher Utpal Dey from the clutches of ASAK militants who demand Rs 20 lakhs from the family of the teacher.

The daring rescue took place late Tuesday night from Sasatgre village about 35 kilometers away from Tura town. This is the fourth rescue by the police in the last two weeks of people who were kidnapped by militants.

The police have also intensified its operation to rescue a shoe trader Tapan Sahawho who is still untraced after being kidnapped by militants.

Dey was kidnapped by about seven ASAK militants while he was returning to Dalu from Tura in an auto rickshaw. The 40 years old school teacher of a primary school in Dalu has now returned safely to his family.

Police said that they launched an operation for Dey’s rescue after getting credible inputs about the presence of militants and Dey in Sasatgre village near Kherapara. A member of the police rescue team said they were very careful during the rescue operation as it was night and the police did not want to hurt Dey.

The police resorted to limited firing for about five minutes and the militants fled leaving behind Dey at around 9.30 pm on Tuesday.- By Our Reporter

.Why is the IG law and order hell bent on keeping the same SP in West Garo Hills and South Garo Hills? ..Is this how Police nowadays work? protecting those who indulge in crimes in the police Department? Is that fair? They are strong suspects for any crime that occurs now in West and South Garo Hills…Can’t help it…I am stating what many feel…Many wonder why and what is keeping the Home Department from transferring these cops. Its as though there are no more cops except these and the crimes seems to have doubled up recently….and strange no cop seems to be aware where Narul Islam the rapist is hiding? is he protected?? If I am not mistaken, there are rules that every officer should be posted in a place for three years and should be transferred when time is up…Now here in this case there were cases of custodial deaths and torture and instead of taking action against them especially when there are FIR’s against them, the Police dept seems to be giving them a chance to tamper evidences…like they did in the Jailbreak / fake encounter at Jowai…Home Dept seems to be a haven for many criminal Police which shames the force( as there are, no doubt, good officers and personnel) and the State as a whole, and these cops are high suspects now in any crime in that area…Cops too suspect a habitual offender who is a common man so the liberty and freedom of expression is there for us and I personally feel, that any crime in West Garo Hills and South Garo Hills, SP and ADDL SP West Garo Hills are strong suspects and also Lakador Syiem in South Garo Hills…Lets wait and see what excuse they give to the High Court with regards to the Balsan Marak case…..
