SHILLONG, SEPT 25: The South West Khasi hills police on Sunday morning arrested three Agar wood smugglers from Nonghyllam and seized 130 kilograms of endangered Agar wood species from the Scorpio.

South West Khasi hills SP Herbert G Lyngdoh said that the three smugglers were from Assam and were moving suspiciously at around 4.45 am to evade police and forest officials.

The Mahindra Scorpio with the registration no AS 01 BL   1962 driven by one Jakir Hussain accompanied by Nadir Hussain and Fariz Uddin. The vehicle and the agar were seized and are now in safe custody at the police station.

Lyngdoh informed that the police will hand over the vehicle and agar to the forest officials on Monday.
