Agitating teachers to meet CS

SHILLONG, SEPT 21: The Joint Action Committee of All Teachers’ Associations of Meghalaya (JACATAM), a conglomerate of school and college teacher, decided to meet the state chief secretary WMS Pariat to discuss on the demands.

JACATAM publicity secretary B Kular Khongjirem informed  that the teachers will meet Pariat on September 30 to discuss on the education policy, reformation of the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE), regular payment of salary to teachers, and provincialisation of teachers’ service.

“We have decided to suspend our agitations for the time being until the meeting,” Khongjirem told reporters after the meeting on Saturday.

The teachers are agitating as the state education minister has refused to meet the teachers to discuss their demands. The teachers have been agitating including boycotting the Teacher’s Day celebration to impress upon the government to listen to their demand but the state education minister RC Laloo is unmoved.

The JACATAM is a body of school and college teachers’ associations belonging to the deficit and ad hoc category. There are over 4,000 schools and 13,000 schoolteachers under the deficit and ad hoc pattern in the state. – By Our Reporter
