Shillong, November 12: For the second time the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) rejected the bail application of the CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing on Tuesday.

Kharshiing was arrested for obstructing the eviction drive carried out by the Meghalaya Urban Development Authority (MUDA) officials at Umsawli against the alleged encroachers who had occupied the land where the state government will be constructing the New Shillong Township (NST).

Kharshiing’s advocate said that she will move an appeal before the court for releasing the CSWO leader.

The East Khasi hills police arrested Kharshiing on the basis of an FIR filed by the MUDA secretary T Lyngwa and additional district magistrate DM Wahlang against the ngo leader for obstructing the MUDA officials to carry out the eviction drive on Friday.

On Monday the CJM court had taken up the bail application of the ngo leader and the case diary was produced before the court but the court rejected the bail application.

Much to the disappointment of Kharshiing’s advocate, the bail application was rejected for the second time on Tuesday.- By Our Reporter
