Shillong, October 8: Antique bullets inscribed with anti-government, anti- Mukul and  anti-police and  were recovered from a government school at Jowai in West Jaintia hills district on Tuesday morning even as police are on the job to nab the culprits behind the act.

One of the bullets inscribed with threatening messages reads – “Mukul will die soon”, “Police, be careful of your wives and families”. These bullets were found lying on the passage near the room of the principal of the Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Jowai.

“We have seized around nine bullets inscribed with anti-government from the passage of the school,” West Jaintia district SP Herbert G Lyngdoh said. Describing the nature of the bullets, he said, “The bullets are very antique and they looks like those bullets used for hunting during the British time.”

Police also seized a note pasted on the wall of the school.

The note carries in it slogans demanding the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) even as it allegedly stated that it had come from the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) within bracket GNK.

Lyngdoh, however, ruled out that the act cannot be from the HNLC but suspected to be pro ILP supporters. “We highly suspect that whoever is behind this must be someone who is in favour of  the demand for ILP,” he said.

Meanwhile, the police have registered a case and are trying to nab the culprits. “We have registered a case on the matter. Enquiry has been set up and police are on the job to arrest those behind the act,” Lyngdoh informed.- By Our Reporter
