ANVC(B) apologise for kidnapping of engineers

Shillong, Oct 26: ANVC (B) said it apologise if any of its cadres were involved in the kidnapping of the three road engineers on Saturday last. However, the three engineers- Manoj Kumar, Depak Kumar and AK Sharma- have been released by their kidnappers.

In a statement issued Friday the ANVC (B)  claimed that Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) other rival groups cadres  are posing as ANVC (B) in many places, especially in the coal rich areas of the state, and clarified that it had never authorize any of its cadre to engage in kidnapping.

Accusing others the ANVC(B) said, “They have been actively distributing demand notes with phone numbers in Nongal and other areas which people have interpreted it to be from the  breakaway group (ANVC-B).”

According to the outfit, the coal season has activated many dormant groups who have started to function in the coal rich areas.

The statement from the ANVC (B) claimed that its leaders were not aware of the kidnapping of the engineers and had not authorized any of its cadre to kidnap or abduct in the greater interest of the state.

The statement  said, “We have confined to our ideology and principle and a concept to bring about a change in the area without any bloodshed but assure that the cadres who go against the law of the organisation will be dealt accordingly if found guilty.”- By Our Reporter
