SHILLONG, DEC 1: The Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) today demanded the immediate removal of Block Development Officer (BDO) of Mawthadraishan community and rural development block before the end of this year.
A delegation of the HNYF Mawthadraishan Circle met the Minister in-charge C&RD Comingone Ymbon for his intervention into the matter.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, the organization finance secretary Banlang Sohphoh said, “We have demanded that the incumbent BDO L Diengdoh be removed and replace by an experience officer.”
Asked, he alleged that the people are facing problem while visiting the block office due to the absent of the present block development officer.
“Besides not being regular in attending office, the present BDO seems to not having the required experience thereby affecting the smooth functioning of the block,” Sohphoh said.
The organization has also demanded the government to repair the building of the block office, which is in a dilapidated condition besides appointing adequate manpower.
He informed that the minister has told the delegation that he would look into the matter but have not given any assurance as to when the demands put forth will be fulfilled.
However, Sohphoh said that if the government fails to address the issues the organization would be compelled to take stern decision on this regard.
