Appoint locals : KSU

SHILLONG, JULY 2: The Khasi Students’ Union – Employment Cell (KSU-EC) demanded that the Chief Post Master General to appoint eligible local indigenous candidates to the posts of over sixty Gramin Dak Sevak Brand Post Masters in the different districts of Meghalaya.

“We demand that the appointment to the post of GDSBPM should be from eligible local indigenous candidates of the state,” KSU-EC chairman Lambokstarwell Marngar said on Wednesday.

Marngar informed that the office of the CPMG has proposed to appoint the GDSBPM in 25 villages in East Khasi hills, 9 in Ri Bhoi district, 7 in East Jaintia hills, 9 in South West Khasi hills and 15 in West Khasi hills District.

The demand came following the allegation that the CPMG is also proposing to appoint non-indigenous people from outside the state into the vacant posts.

Marngar said, “We will strongly protest if the office is appointing non-indigenous candidates mostly from Uttar Pradesh into the several posts.” He also added that the office is allegedly trying to appoint 11 such candidates to the posts.

The KSU also urged the selection committee to give first preferences to local candidates.- By Our Reporter
