Two commandos, two militants injured

operationTURA, JULY 3: Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) commandos were critically injured after they were shot by militants during an anti-insurgency operation at Bolsal A’ding, near Resubelpara in North Garo hills district Thursday morning.

Police said that the CRPF commandos were shot by GNLA militants as the camp belonged to Philport, the area commander of GNLA.  The police also claimed that two GNLA militants were also injured during the exchange of fire, but managed to escape.

The two CRPF personnel have been rushed to Down Town hospital in Guwahati for treatment.

North Garo hills the district police chief said, “The two personnel were critically injured after militants open fire.” He said the injured were shot at in the chest and leg while they were on a routine operation in the area.

The SP also informed that after the two injured jawans were rushed to Guwahati their conditions have improved and are currently out of danger.

From the site of the encounter, three pistols along with ammunition, a clamour mine, a grenade, an AK magazine, incriminating documents and 130 rounds of live AK bullets were also recovered.
