TURA, JAN 9: An arm repairer-cum-manufacturer was today apprehended from Khardang village, near Bajengdoba along the Assam – Meghalaya border.

Police based on source inputs arrested the repairer from his house. He has been identified as – Trulson Ch. Marak, 51. Police recovered a country made pistol along with six empty cases of ammunition and eleven iron pipes.

After the raid at Khardang police stated that cadres of Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) is once again regrouping in North Garo Hills and extortion from different places are being reported.

Last year, over 60 cadres of the outfit had surrendered in North Garo Hills including its area commander Rakban D. Shira alias Philiport.

“We have had inputs of GNLA militants moving into the district and are closely monitoring all activities. Our operations are going on to flush out those that have got into the district,” said Raghavendra Kumar, superintendent of police, North Garo Hills.
