SHILLONG, JAN 9: Seven persons including a professor involved in sexually exploiting the 14-year-old minor girl have been named in the fresh FIRs filed in the case involving the arrested of Mawhati legislator Julius Dorphang.
The additional FIRs have been filed by the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR)- which viewed the sex racket with utmost seriousness- based on the statement of the victim before the child welfare committee.
In one of the FIRs, the SCPCR chairperson Meena Kharkongor stated that one person whom the girl can recall as Prof Roy had sexually exploited her at the house of arrested pimp Momoni at Demthring.
The other persons named in the FIRs include one Hasan (a scrap dealer) who exploited her inside his scrap shop, a Khasi from Borsora (who exploited her in a hotel at Police Bazar), one Hosor, who runs an archery counter, one Apu from Jowai and Sagar who brought an army personnel to the house of Mamoni to sleep with the girl.
The girl also revealed that one Khasi old man from Dawki, a friend of Mamoni, had also exploited her twice, once in Mamoni’s house and the other in the house of one Mary at Demthring.
Altogether police have arrested as many as seven persons in the case including the militant turned MLA Julius Dorphang, who was arrested from neighbouring Assam while trying to escape after intense raids was jointly conducted along with Guwahati police.
At least two FIRs was filed against the legislator one in Laitumkhrah police station while the other in Ri Bhoi District.
Meanwhile, police have maintained that more arrests will follow since investigation is on.
