ATM installed, MCAB reach another milestone

SHILLONG, DEC 19: Even as Meghalaya home minister Roshan Warjri described the Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank Limited (MCAB) as “for the people and by the people bank” she said that the bank has added another feather to its cap on December 19 when its ATMs have become fully activated thereby not only catching up with the technologies of the modern banking but also bring this cooperative bank near to the people.

Inaugurating the activation of the MCAB ATM at the bank’s headquarter at MG Road on Thursday, Warjri- who is a former chairperson of MCAB- lauded the staff of the bank including its chairman WK Kyndiah and managing director DF War for the phenomenal growth of this cooperative bank.  She said that the activation of the ATM is a red letter day of MCAB as it is gradually catching up with the latest banking technologies that would benefit the customers and bring this cooperative bank closer to the other commercial banks operating in the state and the country.

Warjri spoke highly of the MCAB staff as she said that the employees of the bank work as one cohesive “team” with the spirit of  cooperation that leads to achievement. Speaking of the stride the MCAB has made so far while referring to the recent President award the bank got for its excellent implementation of schemes meant for the differently abled people, she said, “The cooperative movement in the region will get a momentum.”

Speaking about the banking technologies that has revolutionized the concept of banking, Warjri said that though there are hiccups to keep up with these technologies but the MCAB is catching up with the introduction of the Core Banking System (CBS) and that as a former chairman of the MCAB she is really “excited about the these new technologies.”

Earlier MCAB chairman WK Kyndiah also welcomed the guests to the inauguration of the bank’a ATM while the MD DF War assured that the MCAB will to its best to meet the new deadline of March 31, 2014 set by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to make all its branch connected with the CBS.

Initially, the MCAB is planning to have at least one ATM in all the districts of the state except in Shillong where the bank will be having more than one ATM for the convenience of the customers.

Moreover with the ATM cards provided by the MCAB to its customers, the customers can withdraw money from any ATMs of the other banks in the country.- By Our Reporter
