TURA, AUG 3: The A’chik Youth Council (AYC) on Wednesday reiterated its demand for declaring Tura as the “winter capital” of Meghalaya. Last month, the organisation had submitted a memorandum to chief minister Mukul Sangma. However, they have not received any response.
In a press statement, AYC president Dimseng Marak said, “We are contemplating to meet the concerned authorities again, so that our demand fructifies. We want equal opportunities for the people of Garo hills”.
The organisation feels that Garo hills region is lagging behind in all spheres of activities, compared to other parts of the state.-From Our Correspondent
