Bhaichung likely to play against Shillong Lajong

 

Shillong, August 29: Sikkim United Football Club (SUFC) coach Philippe Indi de Ridder described the North East Super Series as a good gesture that will help in harnessing and developing the football talents in the region.

Appreciating the efforts put in by the organizer of the Super Series, Ridder said, “Organizing the series is a good gesture, it will help our boys to prepare for the Federation Cup as well as the I-League.”

The New Zealand based Wellington Phoenix FC had also lauded the organizer of the super series and its coach had said that it will help their boys in preparing before their upcoming outing in the Australian football series.

Wellington Phoenix FC will be playing Royal Wahingdoh FC in today’s match.

Sikkim will take on Shillong Lajong FC on Thursday and the winner will take on Newzerland Wellington Phoenix FC.

Ridder said , “If we lose it ok at least we will know our weaknesses and try to work on it.”  He felt that it is better losing to a strong side and learn things rather than play with weak side and win all the matches.

Forty percent of Sikkim United FC players have not come and the players from their junior side is taking part which the coach felt will help the club to a great extent”.

Club promoter and former Indian captain Bhaichung Bhutia is likely to play in the match.- By Suraj Joshi
