BJP becoming family politics:Marak

By Our Reporter

SHILLONG, AUG 5: A former BJP leader today alleged that the BJP is becoming a “family politics” in Garo Hills region.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, Bernard N Marak, who was former president of BJP Tura District, said the recent mass resignation at Dalu clearly indicates BJP is not going to make a mark in the constituency.

Bernard said that the present Tura District president Dilash M Marak is ignorant by not knowing that Utpol Marak was president (Dalu) even before he became District President of Tura City.

Alleging that there has been attempt to remove all dedicated members from the party, he said, “Dilash, Edmund, Rikman and others did not even support Conrad Sangma in last election in spite of getting strong instructions from the centre. They worked against the party principle and now they are sacking dedicated party workers to promote their own relatives.”

He said that this is aclear indication that BJP leaders in Garo Hills are power greedy and are joining BJP just to make money and on personal interests.

“Dilash who himself is a candidate for Dadenggre replaced me as the District President of Tura City after I resigned is not a local of Tura,” Bernard said.

He further alleged that the candidate he (Dilash) is projecting in Dalu is his cousin brother Kurosh M Marak, present MDC of Dalu which is the reason why they sacked Utpol Marak, who was the backbone of BJP in Dalu.

Stating that the BJP is becoming a family politics in the region, Bernard said that the BJP candidate for Tura South Akki Sangma is the son of Rongjeng BJP candidate Rikman Momin adding that BJP state leader Edmund K Sangma is related to Rangsakona aspiring candidate Pesath Sangma.

“These are the facts which Central BJP leaders must look into before they destroy the party,” he said adding “They have no dedication like all the members who resigned from the party. Members who left the party after me were the ones who shaped BJP in Garo Hills.”

Stating that the actual grassroot workers have already resigned and others have been removed on mild pretext by the incompetent leaders of BJP, he said that these are few things BJP leaders must look into if they want to perform well in 2018 polls.
