Shillong, Sept 12: Bronze medalists Sebestian Nongrum and Kushal Gurung were felicitated by the Meghalaya Boxing Association (MBA) at the Shillong Press Club Wednesday.
The two pugilists won the bronze medals in the just concluded 28th Sub-Junior Men National Boxing Championship which was held at Akola, Maharashtra from 26th till the 31st of August.
Of the thirteen junior boxers who went to the fight, five boys reached the quarter finals, while thirteen year old Sebestian Nongrum and fourteen year old Kushal Gurung both won bronze in the semi-final bout.
Speaking on the occasion, MBA President John F Kharshiïng said, “Even though we did not get gold, we are happy that our boys have had the experience and faced the challenges.”
Shillong Press Club president David Laitphlang was the chief guest during the felicitation, while MBA Larry Kharpran who led the team was guest of honor. By Our Reporter
