BSF seize Rs 5 lakhs

SHILLONG, MAY 15:  Border Security Force deployed in South Garo hills district seized Indian currency worth Rs.5 lakhs at zero line on Wednesday. However the Bangladeshi who was carrying the money managed to escape to Bangladesh under the cover of darkness.

When The Baghmara branch of SBI checked the seized currency it was found that around Rs. 4,500 were found to be fake Indian currency while the rest were genuine notes.

BSF sources said the seized money was extortion money that was being carried by a linkman of IIG. The seized currency notes have been handed over to the Baghmara police station for further action.- By Our Reporter
