SHILLONG, AUG 2: The BSF posted in Gumaghat in South West Khasi hills district seized forty five boats worth Rs 13 lakhs from the Bangladeshis smugglers after it received intelligence inputs on Friday.
The seizure was made after the BSF launched special operations.
The smugglers from the neighbouring country often come in these boats inside the Indian territory and indulge in illegal collection of stones and boulders from Jadukatta river.
According to BSF statement in the past three months the border guards have seized one hundred fifty nine boats.
The statement said, “BSF is maintaining zero firing on the border even in such circumstances, whereas the Bangladeshi people attack and injure the BSF personnel.”
The seized items have been handed over to concerned department for further action. –By Our Reporter
