CASA to hold Holy Mass for Sri Lanka bomb blast victims in Shillong

SHILLONG, APRIL 22: The Catholic Association of the Shillong Archdiocese (CASA) has strongly condemned the bombing attacks on churches and hotels in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday.

It has also decided to hold a holy mass and memorial service at the Cathedral Church of May Help of Christians, Laitumkhrah, Shillong on April 24.

In a statement issued here, general secretary of the association, Barnabas Nongbah said, “We condemned this senseless act of terror resulting in the death and injury of innocent lives and the destruction of property.”

He informed that prayers are being offered for the almost 300 persons who died in the bomb blasts.

While conveying heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, Nongbah also said the Catholic faithful also pray for the early recovery of the many injured in the attacks.

“As a mark of solidarity all our churches in the Shillong Archdiocese will offer holy masses for the departed and injured throughout the week,” he said.

The general secretary also invited all Catholic faithfuls and people of good will to atten the holy  mass and memorial service to be held at the Cathedral Church, Laitumkhrah for offering prayers to the victims of the bomb blasts and for invoking God’s blessings for world peace.
