SHILLONG, MAY 21: The Meghalaya BJP unit has demanded that the investigation of the CMJ University scandal should be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
“The CMJ University fiasco should be handed over to the CBI at the earliest,” said state BJP general secretary Dipayan Chakraborty on Tuesday.
The demand was made after the party met with the affected students’ of the CMJ University. At present the CID has taken over the investigation and has arrested some of the CMJ University officials. However, the CMJ University chancellor CM Jha is still absconding even as an arrest warrant has been issued against him.
Chakraborty along with Andy Lyngwa, state youth BJP president, Phrangwel Khongdup state youth BJP vice president and Subhasish Choudhury State BJP media cell convener met the students of CMJ University to know about their difficulties after the University was closed by the government.
“The students are concerned about sudden halt on the classes and about their future,” Chakraborty said.
The BJP felt the investigation into the CMJ University should be given to the CBI by the state government instead of wasting time.-By Our Reporter
