SHILLONG, MAY 21: The Greater Laban Community Development Society (GLCDS) lodged a complaint with the State forest department against the Defence authority for encroaching in others land at Madan Laban – Lawsohtun Road.
“There has been fresh encroachment by the defense authority at Madan Laban – Lawsohtun Road around the sericulture farm area as they have wrongly erected sign boards around the area stating that the land belongs to them,” a letter of the GLCDS to the state principal chief conservator of forest which was submitted on Tuesday said.
According to GLCDS , after gleaning information from the elders of the area it was apparent that the area on the right hand side of the PWD road going towards Lawsohtun which is already fenced belongs to the army while the left hand side belong to the forest department where the sign boards have been erected by the defence authority.
The letter urged the forest department to treat the complaint with utmost urgency so that any potential incident that may arise out of it is nipped in the bud. – By Our Reporter
